Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Embarks on First Gujarat Visit to Promote Electoral Transparency

Gandhinagar, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, will begin his inaugural visit to Gujarat on Thursday as part of his role with the Election Commission of India. During this visit, he plans to engage in discussions with booth-level officers (BLOs), members of electoral literacy clubs (ELCs), and local citizens. The focus of these conversations will be on the theme of “transparency from roll to poll.”

Following these discussions, Kumar will tour the historic Adalaj Stepwell, a site that showcases Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage.

Later in the day, he is scheduled to visit the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), where he will converse with citizens on the topic of “Conducting Elections in India—The World’s Largest Democracy.”

On Friday, Kumar will meet with over 500 BLOs at the Atal Kalam Hall of Gujarat University. This event aims to highlight the crucial role of grassroots election officials in maintaining transparency within the electoral process.

Subsequently, he will engage with more than 1,000 members of electoral literacy clubs at the AUDA auditorium in Shela. This session will introduce the vision, mission, and key features of the recently launched ELC 2.0 initiative.

The Election Commission is promoting its platforms as a means to familiarize young citizens with electoral processes and democratic values. A session on the ECI-NET digital platform, which consolidates election-related information and services, will also be held. Launched in January, ECI-NET is available in English and 22 scheduled languages.

Senior officials from the Election Commission, including Ashish Goyal (Director General of Media), Seema Khanna (Director General of IT), Shubhra Saxena (Director), and Apoorva Kumar Singh (Deputy Director of Media), will provide technical and media guidance through PowerPoint presentations during the events.

These discussions have been organized by the office of Gujarat’s Chief Electoral Officer, Sandeep Sagale, to effectively communicate Kumar’s emphasis on “transparency from roll to poll” and to establish direct dialogue with officials involved in electoral work and voter awareness.
