Chhattisgarh Man Murdered Over Love Affair; Three Arrested Including Minor

Jashpur, May 29: A young man was brutally murdered in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, over suspicions related to a love affair. Reports indicate that the woman’s husband, along with accomplices, struck the victim’s head with a stone, leading to his death.

The police have arrested three suspects, including a minor, in connection with the incident. The shocking event has sent ripples of fear through the local community.

The incident took place in the village of Jamjunwani, under the jurisdiction of the Patthalgaon police station. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Sushil Khalkho. It is reported that Sushil had been in a romantic relationship with a married woman from the village for the past three years. The woman’s husband had been persistently opposing this relationship, creating ongoing tension between the two families.

According to sources, a community meeting was held to address the dispute, but it failed to resolve the issue.

On the night of the incident, around 11 PM, Sushil was in his courtyard when the accused—Jailal Ekka, Jasman Ekka, and a minor—arrived. They initially assaulted Sushil before striking him on the head with a heavy stone, resulting in fatal injuries.

Upon receiving news of the incident, the Patthalgaon police and forensic team arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

Patthalgaon SDOP Dhruvesh Jaiswal confirmed, “The murder was committed over a love affair. Three suspects, including a minor, have been arrested, and further investigations are ongoing.”

During police questioning, accused Jailal Ekka revealed that his wife had been involved with the deceased for an extended period. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the conflict, tensions escalated, leading to the tragic outcome.

The police have filed charges against the suspects under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code, and further action is underway. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the case. Meanwhile, the village remains gripped by fear following this shocking murder.
