Raipur, August 5: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated the ‘Forest Festival 2026’ on Wednesday and participated in a plantation drive under the ‘Peepal for People’ initiative.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to increasing green spaces and announced plans to develop the area as ‘Peepal City’ in the future. “Today, we launched the Forest Festival 2026. Peepal trees have been planted under the Peepal for People initiative. In the future, we will develop this area into Peepal City,” he stated.
He also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign, highlighting that over 70 million trees have been planted in Chhattisgarh in the last two years, marking a significant achievement. The Chief Minister responded to ongoing protests by teachers from Swami Atmanand Schools, assuring that the education department would reach out to address their concerns promptly.
Additionally, he referred to the recently approved Chhattisgarh State Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mission by the cabinet. He explained that the state government is working on five major missions as part of this year’s budget, allocating ₹500 crores for the AI mission over the next five years.
“The use of AI will be implemented across all departments, enhancing both the speed and transparency of work. The state government is actively working on multiple fronts to promote environmental conservation, address public issues, and facilitate digital transformation,” he added.
The Chief Minister expressed optimism that the Forest Festival and large-scale plantation drive would strengthen Chhattisgarh’s green initiatives. He also anticipated improvements in the quality and efficiency of administrative tasks and public services through the AI mission.
