Champat Rais Resignation Sets a Moral Precedent Amid Ram Temple Fund Controversy

New Delhi, June 29: In light of the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities concerning the Ram Temple donations, Surendra Jain, a senior leader of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), has described Champat Rai’s resignation from the trust as a demonstration of moral responsibility. In a recent conversation, Jain noted that despite no personal allegations against him, Rai chose to resign on ethical grounds, a decision that deserves recognition.

Jain emphasized that Rai submitted his resignation the day after an FIR was filed, calling it a move that sets a standard in public life and should be respected. He criticized those questioning Rai’s decision, pointing out that many have faced scandals in their political careers but have never taken moral responsibility by resigning.

Addressing the allegations of a multi-crore scam involving the Ram Temple Trust’s funds, Jain targeted leaders from the Congress and Samajwadi Party. He asserted that such claims aim to undermine public faith in the Ram Janmabhoomi. Jain urged those making accusations to present solid evidence to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and police. He warned that if these allegations are baseless, legal action should be taken against the accusers.

In Mumbai, VHP spokesperson Shriraj Nair reiterated the organization’s support for a fair investigation. He mentioned that the trust itself had requested the formation of an SIT, and an interim report has already been submitted to the authorities. Nair stated that if anyone is found guilty of embezzlement, regardless of their position or influence, they should face strict penalties. He acknowledged that the sentiments of the entire Hindu community have been hurt by this issue, but emphasized the importance of trusting the judicial process. In a democracy, the law must apply equally to all, and any wrongdoing must be punished according to the law. The final conclusions will only emerge after the SIT’s complete report, and everyone should await the investigation’s conclusion.

Meanwhile, in Ranchi, Mahua Maaji, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has also called for an impartial investigation. She stated that just as cases involving individuals from other political parties are scrutinized, this matter should also be investigated fairly. Maaji insisted that caste, religion, party affiliation, or politics should not influence the inquiry, as it concerns a temple tied to the faith of millions. The law should be equal for all, and only after a fair investigation will the truth come to light.
