New Delhi, June 29: BJP spokesperson RP Singh defended the Ram Temple Trust’s handling of donations amid political controversies in West Bengal. He criticized opposition parties, particularly targeting Rahul Gandhi. Singh also expressed support for the proposed UCC bill in West Bengal and countered allegations from Akhilesh Yadav that the BJP prioritizes donations over the nation.
In response to posters labeling Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as ‘missing’ in Delhi, Singh remarked, “Rahul Gandhi is on his 55th foreign tour. He spends more time abroad than in India. Perhaps those who need something from him put up these missing posters. Rahul should clarify what he actually does during these trips. According to public domain information, he has spent nearly ₹640 million on his foreign travels, which is more than his declared income.”
Regarding the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Singh stated, “Both individuals have taken responsibility and submitted their resignations. No official or employee will be spared in the Ram Temple donation theft case.”
Singh criticized Akhilesh Yadav and other opposition parties for consistently opposing the Ram Temple construction process. He noted, “They have resisted it in court and later questioned the court’s decisions. Akhilesh, Rahul, Sonia, and Priyanka Gandhi have yet to visit the Ram Temple.”
On Yadav’s statement about prioritizing donations, Singh countered, “A leader who has a history of violence against Ram devotees has no right to question them.”
Addressing allegations from TMC supporters that rebel leaders are misusing the party’s name and election symbol, Singh said, “This matter is now before the court. The court will determine who is legitimate. The side with the greater numbers will be considered the real one. Those lacking numbers must reassess their position. However, the truth is that the faction that has separated from them currently holds more strength.”
On the proposed UCC bill in West Bengal, Singh remarked, “The West Bengal government has made a commendable decision. This bill will be welcomed by the people of West Bengal and the entire nation. Following Uttarakhand and Assam, West Bengal will implement the UCC, granting equal rights to all, especially benefiting Muslim daughters.”
