New Delhi, April 1: On April 2, the nation will celebrate Hanuman Jayanti with great enthusiasm. Preparations are underway at renowned Hanuman temples across the country. Among these, one temple stands out, discovered by a devoted follower.
Located in Jaipur, the Khole Hanuman Temple has become a symbol of faith and pride. The temple features a unique idol of Hanuman Ji in a reclining position, holding a mace in one hand and a mountain in the other. Notably, the idol is adorned with a mustache, and a deep hole replaces the mouth.
Various local legends surround the temple’s establishment. It is believed that over 300 years ago, Baba Nirmal Das Ji Maharaj, a devoted follower of Hanuman Ji, visited the hills of Lakshman Dungri. Enchanted by the beauty of the area, he discovered the idol of Hanuman Ji holding the Sanjeevani mountain. The idol’s extraordinary appearance inspired Baba Nirmal Das to construct a magnificent temple for it.
The temple is named “Khole Ji” because it is situated in the hills of Lakshman Dungri, where water continuously flows through the crevices due to dense forests. In the local dialect of Jaipur, a crevice is referred to as “kho,” which led to the temple’s name. While Jaipur boasts several Hanuman temples, the Khole Hanuman Temple has a distinct identity. It attracts both devotees and tourists from afar, drawn by its natural beauty.
This three-story temple houses not only the idol of Hanuman Ji but also statues of Thakur Ji, Rishi Valmiki, Lord Rama, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna. During Hanuman Jayanti, it is considered auspicious to offer a vermilion robe to the deity. Devotees can also present warm and cool garments to Balaji according to their devotion. The temple is renowned for its enchanting surroundings.
