Patna, August 8: In response to the murder of Mukesh Srivastava from Khadiya village in the Siwan district of Bihar, youth from the Chitransh community held a candlelight vigil in Patna to pay tribute. The event took place at Kargil Chowk in Gandhi Maidan, attracting a large gathering of community members and dignitaries.
During the vigil, participants demanded the immediate arrest of the main accused and stringent action against those responsible for the crime. The march was led by community leader Sitesh Raman, who expressed that the murder has caused widespread grief and outrage among not only the Chitransh community but all sections of society.
Raman emphasized that the community expects Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary to take this matter seriously and ensure prompt action against the accused. He revealed that during police raids, seven lakh rupees in cash, two counting machines, alcohol, and marijuana were seized from the homes of the suspects. However, the absence of arrests has raised several questions.
He urged the police administration to expedite the investigation and apprehend all suspects, highlighting the intense anger within the Chitransh (Kayasth) community. There is a growing demand for justice among the youth, and it is the responsibility of the government and police to swiftly arrest all involved and take strict legal action.
Raman also called on Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary to acknowledge the situation and provide adequate financial assistance to the victim’s family. He requested special arrangements for the care and future security of the deceased’s wife and children. He warned that if the main suspects are not arrested soon, a delegation from the Chitransh community will meet with the Chief Minister to submit a memorandum and demand immediate action.
The candlelight vigil saw the presence of hundreds, including Sitesh Raman, Manish Anand, Pooja Kumari, Anitesh Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Chandan Kumar, and Santosh Kumar.
