Bottles of Alcohol Found in Bihar Secretariat Spark Controversy

Mumbai, May 11: A shocking discovery of empty alcohol bottles in the Bihar Secretariat has raised serious concerns. The incident, which occurred on Monday, prompted opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav to question the effectiveness of the state’s alcohol prohibition laws. He asserted that the ban has completely failed, calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Speaking to a news agency, Yadav emphasized the gravity of the situation. “While the government claims that a complete alcohol ban is in place in Bihar, finding bottles in a sensitive area like the Secretariat raises many questions. This warrants an impartial investigation,” he stated. He accused the ruling party of benefiting from the ban, while ordinary citizens, particularly from marginalized communities, face legal repercussions. “Poor individuals are being jailed and prosecuted, especially from Dalit and backward communities,” he added.

Yadav further highlighted the dangers of toxic alcohol, which has already claimed numerous lives in the state. He pointed out that the current policy’s failure is evident, as youth are increasingly turning to other forms of substance abuse. “The existing alcohol ban in Bihar has proven to be a complete failure,” he concluded.

Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, also criticized the government on social media. In a post on platform X, she remarked, “The reach of alcohol extends to the corridors of power in Bihar. The claims of a successful alcohol ban have once again been undermined by the discovery of empty bottles in government buildings like ‘Vikas Bhavan.’ This indicates a total failure of the prohibition laws. Could it be that ministers or officials are consuming alcohol within these high-security buildings?”

She further stated, “The finding of bottles under the government’s nose proves that illegal alcohol traders have more access to the system than the government itself. The roots of the illegal alcohol trade are stronger than the government. Previously, bottles have been found in the so-called secure assembly premises, and it has become common to find empty bottles on the streets of Patna and in nearly every neighborhood, town, and village across the state.”
