Mumbai, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : In Mumbai, Shrikant Bharati, a BJP Member of the Legislative Council, commented on the party’s strong showing in the Rajasthan local elections, attributing the success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development model and the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. He also addressed various issues including the BRICS summit, the Maratha reservation movement, and the Disha Salian case.
Bharati noted that he was responsible for the elections in Kota, where 42 BJP workers from Maharashtra contributed to the campaign. He praised the party’s overall performance in Rajasthan, highlighting the accelerated pace of development under Sharma’s leadership. He credited the victory in Kota to the efforts of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and the work done in the region. Bharati emphasized that the election results reflect the positive impact of Modi’s development initiatives in the state.
Discussing the BRICS summit, Bharati highlighted its role in enhancing the global visibility of BRICS nations, which represent nearly 40% of the world’s GDP. He stated that the summit, held in India under Modi’s leadership, has elevated the country’s international standing. He also pointed out the significance of BRICS nations uniting against terrorism, particularly in light of recent events in Pahalgam, which sends a strong message regarding cross-border terrorism.
Regarding the controversy over food served at the BRICS summit and comments made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Bharati criticized the politicization of such issues. He stated that it is inappropriate to make the type of food served a political matter, advocating for mutual respect among different dietary cultures.
On the Maratha reservation movement and the proposed protest in Mumbai led by Manoj Jarange Patil, Bharati asserted that the BJP and the government of Devendra Fadnavis have made significant contributions to the Maratha community. He expressed confidence that the youth of Maharashtra are aware of the government’s efforts and called for continued dialogue to resolve the issues.
In response to questions about the Disha Salian case, Bharati expressed his belief in the Indian judicial system, stating that the truth will emerge through legal proceedings. He assured that the Maharashtra government‘s Home Department would conduct a thorough investigation, promising strict action against anyone found guilty.
Supporting Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Bharati stated that the UCC is a demand of society and the public. He noted that the BJP has consistently included the UCC as a key issue in previous elections, receiving strong support from the electorate. The goal of the UCC, he explained, is to create a more organized and strengthened society.
