New Delhi, April 4: Central Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has proposed changing Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to Mahakal Standard Time (MST), sparking intense political debate. Congress MPs have accused the BJP of hindering the country’s progress.
Congress MP Tariq Anwar stated, “The world is moving forward, but the BJP wants to take the country backward. This is very unfortunate. We need to focus on addressing issues like poverty, unemployment, inflation, and corruption. The BJP wants the people to remain like frogs in a well, stuck in their situation.”
Regarding the arrival of a ship carrying LNG via waterways amid Middle Eastern tensions, he remarked, “This is a positive development. If supplies meet the demand, it will alleviate some of the hardships faced by people across the country. However, one ship may not suffice; it might not even cover a day’s supply.”
On the topic of Muslim candidates in the West Bengal elections, Anwar said, “The Congress party’s ideology is well-known. We believe in inclusivity across all religions and communities. We aim to field candidates in proportion to the population. With 32% of West Bengal’s population being Muslim, their representation should naturally be higher. There should be no objections to this.”
Additionally, Congress MP Imran Masood addressed the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, stating, “The country is facing a serious crisis. The supply we are receiving is far less than the demand, which will lead to ongoing challenges.”
He criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his comments regarding arrests, saying, “Such claims should not be made. Everything is in the hands of God. Time has revealed many truths. The country has suffered significant losses over the past eight years, a prediction made by Rahul Gandhi long ago.”
On the proposal by Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding Mahakal Standard Time, Anwar added, “The government can do whatever it wants, but it should not talk about changing the time. They should focus on the long lines people are facing. There are concerns about rising oil prices after the elections, and that is what needs to be addressed.”
