New Delhi, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has launched a strong critique against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Since leaving the party, he claims he has been a target of their relentless attacks. Recently, AAP leaders questioned his voter registration status in Punjab during a press conference.
In a statement released late Tuesday, Chadha expressed that he has become a “nightmare” for AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his party. He noted that they seem to think about him constantly, seeking ways to undermine him.
Chadha remarked that since his exit from the “corrupt” AAP, the party’s leadership has struggled to cope. He likened their behavior to that of a spurned ex-partner unable to move on.
Elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab in 2022, Chadha joined the BJP in April this year along with six other MPs, fulfilling the necessary requirements under anti-defection laws.
Previously, AAP leaders alleged that Chadha resides in Delhi rather than Punjab. They warned that if he is not found at the registered address, his name could be removed from the voter list in Punjab. They also accused him of attempting to register as a voter in Delhi through a “backdated process,” arguing that he lacks the moral right to occupy government housing designated for Rajya Sabha MPs.
Last week, Chadha took to the social media platform ‘X’ to assert that the Punjab AAP government’s actions reflect “politics of revenge,” as his voter record in Mohali indicates he has “permanently shifted” to another location.
As the elections approach next year, the Election Commission has recently prepared a draft of the voter list following a “Special Intensive Revision” (SIR).
