Bulandshahr, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The political climate in Uttar Pradesh is heating up following the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) decision to change the dress color of its student wing to blue. BJP MP Bhola Singh has taken aim at the SP, suggesting that the party is altering its image and messaging as elections approach.
In a recent conversation, Singh remarked that the SP frequently shifts its definitions and alliances, at times emphasizing different groups such as backward classes, Dalits, and minorities. He believes that the new blue T-shirts for the student body are an attempt to woo the Dalit community.
Singh accused the SP of failing to protect the interests of Dalits during its time in power. He recalled incidents of damage to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statues and reported atrocities against Dalits, asserting that these events are still fresh in the community’s memory.
The BJP MP noted that while the SP claims to advocate for backward classes, many of the 79 Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Uttar Pradesh did not receive adequate opportunities during its administration. He alleged that the party has favored a specific group over others. In contrast, Singh praised the BJP government for its development initiatives and welfare programs over the past nine and a half years, predicting that voters will prioritize these issues in the upcoming elections.
Responding to suggestions from OP Rajbhar, president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, that the SP might change its messaging further, Singh indicated that such adjustments are likely part of a broader political strategy.
On a separate note, Singh expressed his sorrow over a tragic building collapse in Delhi that resulted in the deaths of seven children. He described the incident as heartbreaking and extended his condolences to the affected families. The government has acted swiftly, arresting the building’s owner and initiating legal proceedings, although Singh acknowledged that no punishment could bring back the lost lives.
In response to Rahul Gandhi’s comments, Singh urged the opposition to refrain from politicizing sensitive issues. He questioned the lack of responsiveness in states governed by Congress and its allies, suggesting that all parties should unite in support of grieving families rather than turning tragedies into political fodder.
