Justice for Ankita Bhandari: Dhami Governments Firm Stand Throughout the Case
The Dhami government ensured justice for Ankita Bhandari, securing life sentences for her killers through diligent legal action.

Dehradun, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The conviction of the accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, resulting in life sentences, underscores the commitment of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s government to pursue justice from the outset. The administration acted decisively, directing immediate action following the incident.
Within 24 hours, the suspects were arrested and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry. The government also invoked the Gangster Act against the accused.
During the investigation, a comprehensive charge sheet spanning nearly 500 pages was compiled, incorporating testimonies from around 100 witnesses and crucial evidence. The prosecution maintained a strong presence in court, leading to repeated rejections of bail applications for the accused, who remained incarcerated throughout the trial. This robust investigation and effective prosecution ultimately resulted in life sentences for Ankita’s killers.
Throughout the legal proceedings, the state government prioritized the emotional well-being of Ankita’s parents and family. In response to their requests, the government changed public prosecutors three times. Furthermore, respecting the family’s plea for a CBI investigation, Chief Minister Dhami ordered an inquiry by the agency.
To support the grieving family, the government provided financial assistance of ₹2.5 million. Additionally, Ankita’s brother and father were offered government jobs, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to stand by the family.
From the beginning, Chief Minister Dhami maintained a clear stance: no matter how influential the criminals were, they would face justice. Despite questions raised about the investigation, the judicial process deemed it satisfactory, leading to the conviction of the guilty.
However, some political figures, including Congress and Ashutosh Negi, attempted to cast doubt and confusion among the public under the guise of ‘VIP’ interests. If anyone possessed concrete evidence regarding the case, it should have been presented to the investigative agencies and courts. Accusations made outside the courtroom for political gain do not contribute to the pursuit of justice but rather exploit a sensitive case involving Ankita.
Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that delivering justice for Ankita was the government’s highest priority. The administration’s swift arrests, the SIT investigation, a strong charge sheet, actions under the Gangster Act, and responsiveness to the family’s demands for changes in prosecution strategy, financial support, and employment opportunities reflect a comprehensive approach to this sensitive matter.
The Dhami government has not limited its efforts to mere assurances but has actively supported the family with decisive action and strong advocacy throughout this critical fight for justice.
