Harish Rawat Criticizes Amit Shahs Remarks on Rahul Gandhi, Urges Government Action Against Infiltrators
Harish Rawat responds to Amit Shahs comments on Rahul Gandhi, demanding government action against border infiltration and terrorism.

Dehradun, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat has taken aim at the central government following Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s comments regarding Rahul Gandhi. Rawat emphasized that border security is the responsibility of the government. He questioned why the government, which has been in power for 12 years, is not addressing the rising infiltration and terrorism in Kashmir, instead of directing criticism at Gandhi.
In response to Shah’s remarks in the Lok Sabha, Rawat stated, “Border security is in your hands. Take strict measures; we will support you. If infiltration is increasing and terrorism is flourishing in Kashmir, then the questions should be directed at those who have been in power for the last 12 years. What relevance do Rahul Gandhi’s questions hold?” He called for stringent action against infiltrators, challenging the government to deport those it claims are illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
Rawat further expressed understanding of Shah’s frustration, suggesting that the Home Minister’s anger stems from public exposure of the alleged corruption within the government. He noted that Gandhi has been raising these issues for some time and is now leading a united opposition front.
On the recent ban on tobacco by the Dhami government, Rawat indicated that discussions on this matter would occur later, implying that such announcements are often made for show rather than genuine intent.
Regarding the appointment of a new governor for Uttarakhand, Rawat remarked, “This is their internal matter. Perhaps they no longer see a need for Sardar Ji (former Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh, retired), which is why he was removed. We will see how the new governor proves himself. He may have been appointed because he is perceived as a staunch BJP supporter.”
