BJP Criticizes Rahul Gandhi After Altercation with Karnataka CM in Delhi Protest
BJP questions Rahul Gandhis respect for Karnataka CM after a security incident during a protest march in Delhi.

Bengaluru, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Bengaluru witnessed political tensions on October 13 when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. This followed an incident where Gandhi’s security personnel reportedly pushed Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar during a protest march in Delhi.
The BJP shared a video of the incident on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, mocking Shivakumar for his presence at the protest and suggesting he “vanished like steam from a kettle.” The party’s post emphasized a lack of respect shown by Gandhi towards a sitting chief minister, stating, “There is no respect, no honor—just the Congress style of humiliation.”
Vijayendra, the president of the Karnataka BJP and a legislator, also criticized the Congress leadership, questioning what kind of respect Shivakumar receives from the party’s high command while serving as chief minister. He remarked, “You can say whatever you want while touring the state, but the respect and dignity you receive in the corridors of your high command is a matter of public knowledge.”
He further suggested that the perceived importance of Shivakumar to the Congress leadership is not a concern for the BJP. However, he asserted that disrespect towards a Kannada-speaking chief minister is an issue of pride for the Kannada people. Vijayendra provocatively asked, “Have you preserved enough self-respect to inform your high command about this?”
In response to the incident, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara addressed reporters in Bengaluru. He acknowledged the challenges of managing security during protests and large gatherings. Parameshwara noted that he has faced similar situations in the past. He emphasized that ensuring the safety of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is the primary responsibility of the security personnel present, which includes preventing unauthorized access. He added, “Unfortunately, the chief minister was also there at that time and received a slight push amidst the crowd.”
Tensions continue to rise as the political landscape evolves in Karnataka.
