New Delhi, August 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken significant disciplinary action within its Jammu and Kashmir unit. The party has suspended Engineer Syed Shaukat Ghayoor Andrabi, the district president of Pulwama, from all positions following the registration of an FIR against him for extortion.
The suspension order was issued by Mohammad Anwar Khan, the state general secretary and national council member of BJP Jammu and Kashmir. This action follows recommendations made by Advocate Sunil Sethi, the chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee. Consultations were also held with the party’s provincial president and MP Sat Sharma (CA) and general secretary Mohammad Anwar Khan regarding this decision.
According to the order, the BJP has decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Engineer Syed Shaukat Ghayoor Andrabi after an extortion case was filed against him. He will remain suspended from all organizational positions and responsibilities, including that of the district president of Pulwama, until the investigation is concluded.
The party clarified that during the suspension period, Andrabi will not represent the party on any platform, nor will he be assigned any organizational duties. The disciplinary committee will conduct a thorough investigation and submit its report to the party leadership, after which further decisions will be made.
Through this order, the BJP has conveyed its commitment to transparency, integrity, and ethical values in public life. The suspension order stated, “The party reiterates its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and ethics in public life.”
It is noteworthy that Engineer Syed Shaukat Ghayoor Andrabi has played an active role in strengthening the BJP organization in Pulwama district over the past several years. Following the FIR against him, discussions regarding this issue have intensified both within and outside the party.
