Patna, June 6: The political landscape in Bihar has erupted following the reduction of security for Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife, Rabri Devi. Leaders from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are expressing their outrage. In response, Sanjay Sarawagi, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserted that there has been no reduction in the security of the Lalu family.
Sarawagi stated in an interview, “No security has been withdrawn. The issue pertains only to the use of escort vehicles and commandos as a status symbol. The level of security is determined by state and district security committees. As former Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi are receiving all the security they are entitled to. They are still surrounded by 24 security personnel and have been provided with a bulletproof vehicle.”
It is noteworthy that Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi accused the authorities of removing their ‘Z Plus’ security and returned the remaining police personnel assigned to their protection. Similarly, Tejashwi Yadav sent back security personnel stationed outside his official residence on Polo Road.
RJD leader Shakti Singh Yadav alleged that the government deliberately reduced the security of the Lalu family. He pointed out that the Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, was recently hit by a vehicle. He questioned the government’s intentions in reducing security, claiming it aims to weaken and intimidate the opposition.
Meanwhile, Sarawagi also commented on the Khan Sir coaching controversy, stating, “Anyone who breaks the law will face consequences, as the rule of law prevails. The Chief Minister has made it clear that the police have full authority to act. Whether a person is powerful or ordinary, the law applies equally to all, and those who violate it will be held accountable.”
On India’s GDP growth rate, Sarawagi remarked, “India’s economy is growing rapidly. Consequently, the annual GDP growth for 2025-26 is recorded at 7.7 percent. Compared to other countries, India is becoming economically stronger. China’s growth rate is 4.9 percent, the United States is at 2.3 percent, and the average for G7 countries is 1.6 percent, while India stands at 7.7 percent. Indicators like industrial growth and domestic demand remain robust.”
He added that while the entire world teeters on the brink of recession, India’s economy continues to rise. This clearly demonstrates how, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is moving towards strength. Currently, India ranks as the fourth-largest economic power globally, and the Prime Minister has stated that the country will soon become the third-largest economic power.
