New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has taken legal action against former Finance Secretary Subhash Garg, filing a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court for ₹2 crore. The dispute has escalated into a court battle following remarks made by Garg during a podcast.
In the podcast, Garg allegedly referred to Dubey as a “blackmailer.” He also claimed that Dubey visited his office to pressure the Chairman of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) regarding various matters, including transfers and contracts.
Dubey has vehemently rejected these allegations, labeling them as false, malicious, and damaging to his reputation. This prompted him to pursue legal recourse for defamation.
Tensions between Dubey and Garg have intensified recently, particularly after Garg publicly questioned GDP growth figures released by the central government for the first quarter. This led to a heated exchange between the two figures.
In response to the lawsuit, Garg stated on social media platform X that he has addressed the defamation notice. He confirmed that on September 26, he sent a response to Dubey’s lawyer, Amit Awasthi, and shared this information publicly.
The case is currently in court, with both parties presenting their claims.
