Lucknow, April 2: Following the revelation of a kidney transplant racket in Kanpur, Ravidas Mehrotra, a leader of the Samajwadi Party, has criticized the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. He alleges that this racket was operating under the protection of the health department.
In a conversation in Lucknow, the SP leader claimed that a large-scale racket is functioning across the state, involving the purchase of kidneys from poor individuals and selling them at inflated prices.
He stated that this illegal trade is being shielded by the health department. It is unfortunate that neither the health minister nor the BJP government has taken any action so far.
Mehrotra emphasized that with the kidney transplant case emerging in Kanpur, the government must take strict measures.
Regarding the Vande Mataram song, he mentioned that those who stand during the performance should listen attentively. If they cannot hum the lyrics, they should step aside.
On the issue of Naxalism, the SP leader remarked that the government merely claims to have eradicated it. However, Naxal activities continue in various parts of the country. The central government asserts that both terrorism and Naxalism have been eliminated, which he believes is misleading the public.
He pointed out that during Operation Sindoor, while the army was destroying terrorist bases in Pakistan, the government inexplicably called for a ceasefire. He criticized Home Minister Amit Shah for patting his own back regarding Naxalism, suggesting that the BJP aims to distract the public from key issues.
Mehrotra also commented on the recent Supreme Court hearing regarding the SIR, stating that the Election Commission should operate impartially. He accused the commission of removing names from voter lists on a large scale through the SIR, calling it a conspiracy.
