BJP Criticizes DMK Government Over Womens Safety in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, March 15: Political tensions are rising in Tamil Nadu regarding women’s safety. The BJP targeted the DMK government on Sunday, labeling it as “incompetent, insensitive, and irresponsible.”

BJP spokesperson C.R. Kesavan expressed disappointment over the state government’s handling of increasing incidents against women amid the election atmosphere. He drew a parallel between the DMK government and Roman Emperor Nero, stating that just as Nero played the flute while Rome burned, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who also serves as the state’s Home Minister, is preoccupied with making reels while violent attacks and sexual crimes against women occur in broad daylight in Tamil Nadu.

Kesavan asserted that the DMK government has utterly failed to ensure the safety of women in the state. He stated, “The government has completely failed to fulfill its responsibilities. Women in the state do not feel safe. The sexual assaults on women have shaken the conscience of the entire nation. The situation in Tamil Nadu has become extremely alarming.”

The BJP leader also criticized opposition parties for their silence on the issue. He questioned why leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who speak out on women’s issues in other countries, have not addressed the situation in Tamil Nadu or spoken to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin about these incidents.

Kesavan labeled this behavior as “hypocritical politics” from the opposition. He referenced a recent tragic incident in the Kulathur area of Thoothukudi district, where the body of a 17-year-old student was found. Reports suggest that if the police had acted promptly upon receiving a missing person’s report, her life might have been saved.

He also noted that when MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi visited the area with other DMK leaders, they faced the anger of local residents, who protested vocally.

As assembly elections approach, the BJP spokesperson claimed that the day is not far when the people of Tamil Nadu will vote the DMK government out of power.
