Change in West Bengal Government Expected: Hrishikesh Saha

Siliguri, March 21: Hrishikesh Saha, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for North Bengal, shared his insights on the upcoming assembly elections during a media interaction on Saturday. He emphasized that it is the people who will bring about a change in the government.

Saha stated, “We have already mentioned that we do not have a role in the elections. When the time for elections comes, we encourage everyone to vote and motivate others to do the same. Everyone should participate peacefully in the voting process and ensure high turnout. Vote for the candidate who is competent.”

Regarding the 2026 assembly elections, Saha expressed, “The current societal trends indicate that a change is likely. The government may change. This is my personal opinion, and I am sharing what I have observed. The Election Commission is conducting SIR, which is not a new occurrence. It is also the government’s responsibility, and such events happen periodically.”

He noted that the people of West Bengal desire peace, safety for life and property, and maintaining brotherhood, which raises hopes for a change in power this time. Historically, West Bengal has witnessed significant unrest and riots during elections. Therefore, public awareness is crucial for conducting peaceful elections.

Voting for all 294 members of the West Bengal Assembly is scheduled for April 23 and 29, 2026. The counting of votes and results will be announced on May 4, 2026. This time, both the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are intensifying their campaigns and announcing candidates to secure power.
