
Nagpur, March 21: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan participated in several significant events during his first official visit to Maharashtra, held in Nagpur. He extended New Year wishes to the citizens of the country.
In his address, he congratulated everyone on the auspicious occasion of Vikram Samvat 2083.
Upon arriving in Nagpur, the Vice President received a grand welcome. He was greeted at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport by Maharashtra Governor Jagdish Mukhi, State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Nagpur Municipal Corporation Mayor Nita Rajendra Thackeray, among others.
In his speech, the Vice President reflected on his previous service as the Governor of Maharashtra, expressing that visiting Nagpur felt like coming home. He emphasized the city’s significant role in the nation’s consciousness, noting it as the birthplace of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
He recounted that the RSS was founded in 1925 on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. The Vice President also shared his personal connection to the RSS, which instilled in him a spirit of selfless service.
During the visit, he paid homage to Dr. Hedgewar by offering floral tributes at the Dr. Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan in Nagpur.
At the beginning of his address, the Vice President acknowledged all dignitaries present on stage, including the Governor of Maharashtra, the Revenue Minister, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University Delhi Prof. Srinivasa Varekedi, National Coordinator of the Indian Youth Parliament Vasudev Joshi, and other prominent figures.
He concluded by stating that in all the responsibilities he has undertaken, he has always strived to work selflessly.
