Jaipur, March 29: Senior BJP leader and former opposition leader Rajendra Rathore launched a sharp attack on former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday. He accused Gehlot of being disconnected from reality and misleading the public.
Rathore stated that Gehlot’s comments on the wait for scriptures are far removed from the truth and are an attempt to conceal past failures. He targeted Gehlot’s dynastic politics, alleging that the former Chief Minister sidelined many capable leaders to promote his son, Vaibhav Gehlot.
Despite being nominated from Jodhpur and Jalore, Rathore claimed that the public rejected Vaibhav. He pointed out the irony in Gehlot now advising others against nepotism.
Rathore also accused the previous Congress government of mismanagement and corruption during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the procurement of medicines, medical equipment, and Remdesivir injections. He further asserted that out of 4,148 announcements made during Gehlot’s tenure, 2,208 remain unfulfilled.
In response to criticism regarding the IPD tower project, Rathore stated that the previous government initiated projects without proper planning, leading to issues like inadequate parking and lack of expert consultation. He noted that the current government has addressed these concerns, with construction now reaching the 23rd floor and expected completion by January 2027.
On employment issues, Rathore claimed that the Bhajanlal Sharma government is ensuring transparent recruitment. He mentioned that 92,000 jobs have been created so far, with recruitment processes ongoing for 153,000 positions, based on the principle of ‘no nepotism, no corruption.’
He also highlighted the global impact of the ongoing West Asian conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel on oil supply. Rathore noted that India imports about 80% of its petroleum from this region, making price fluctuations inevitable. Despite crude oil prices exceeding $122 per barrel, he mentioned that the central government has reduced excise duty by ₹10, alleviating an annual burden of approximately ₹1.75 lakh crore.
