Shimla, June 1: The BJP’s national vice president, Saudan Singh, expressed his excitement over the party’s impressive victory in the municipal elections held in Himachal Pradesh. He congratulated the state’s citizens, party leadership, and workers on Sunday.
Singh stated that the BJP won 37 out of 63 wards across four municipal corporations, achieving a victory rate of 59 percent.
In addition to the municipal corporations, the BJP claimed historic wins for candidates supported by the party in 3,759 panchayat elections, which are considered the backbone of grassroots democracy in the state.
He noted that the BJP secured a clear majority in the municipal corporations of Mandi, Dharamshala, and Solan. In Mandi, the party won 12 out of 14 seats, achieving a success rate of 86 percent. In Dharamshala, the BJP claimed 11 out of 17 seats, while in Solan, it won 10 out of 17 seats, earning the trust of the public.
Singh emphasized that these results reflect the voice of the people of Himachal Pradesh. By supporting the politics of development, good governance, and public service, the citizens have given a clear mandate to the BJP. This victory is attributed to the welfare programs and pro-poor initiatives implemented by the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He added that the people of the state have shown their support for Modi’s leadership, signaling their commitment to politics of development and trust. The municipal election results also indicate that the BJP’s organizational structure has strengthened at the booth level, rewarding the relentless efforts of party workers with significant public support.
State BJP president Rajeev Bindal congratulated the elected representatives and accused the Congress government of attempting to manipulate the election rules for panchayati raj institutions to facilitate the buying and selling of legislators.
He pointed out that there were previously specific provisions to conduct these elections within a set timeframe. However, granting officials discretionary power to call meetings has significantly increased the potential for such manipulations.
