Bihars Tejashwi Yadav Accuses Government of Negligence in Bunti Yadav Murder Case

Patna, August 6: Tejashwi Yadav, the National Executive President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, made serious allegations against the state government and police regarding the Bunti Yadav murder case. He stated that police negligence has been evident and that the culprits should not be spared under any circumstances. Additionally, he announced financial assistance for Bunti Yadav’s family and pledged to cover the educational expenses of their children.

During a press conference in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav mentioned that Bunti Yadav had allegedly raised his voice against a sex racket, which led to his murder. He noted that an RJD delegation had previously met with the victim’s family and assured them of justice. He also indicated that he had spoken with the Director General of Police (DGP) and the relevant Superintendent of Police (SP), and party leaders had accompanied the victim’s family to meet with the DGP.

Tejashwi revealed that the police have arrested some suspects, while others remain at large. However, the police have assured a swift capture of the remaining suspects. He emphasized that Bunti Yadav was the sole breadwinner for his family, which is now facing severe financial difficulties. In light of this, the RJD has decided to cover the educational expenses for both of Bunti Yadav’s children until the 12th grade. He confirmed that a check for five lakh rupees has been handed over to Bunti Yadav’s wife.

He explained that the current fees for education until the 12th grade amount to approximately two and a half lakh rupees, but considering future needs, the assistance of five lakh rupees was provided. He also stated that if additional support is required for further education, the party and he would stand by the family. Furthermore, he urged the state government to provide a government job to a family member of Bunti Yadav.

Tejashwi Yadav called for a fair investigation into the case, asserting that if any police officer is found to have suppressed the case or colluded with the accused, action should be taken against them. He insisted that the DGP must ensure an impartial inquiry. During this time, the Leader of the Opposition also questioned the law and order situation in Bihar. He alleged that crime is on the rise in the state and that criminals are receiving political protection.

He pointed out that numerous incidents of murder, shooting, kidnapping, rape, and robbery have recently occurred, yet no minister or the Chief Minister has reached out to the victim’s families. He claimed that criminal activities are happening in nearly every district, and the current government is to blame. He accused some representatives of the ruling party of providing protection and stated that impartial investigations into the allegations made by victim families are not taking place.

Tejashwi Yadav also referenced the alleged use of AK-47s during student protests. He mentioned that he has requested a meeting with the DGP regarding this issue and plans to elaborate on it further on Friday. He noted that the party has previously provided financial assistance of 25,000 rupees to individuals injured in shootings and that local leaders are in constant contact with victim families.

He questioned who ordered the use of AK-47s against students and why responsible officials have not faced action. He asserted that his party will continue to raise this issue until action is taken against the relevant SP and DM. Criticizing the Chief Minister and the ruling coalition, Tejashwi Yadav alleged a significant gap between the government’s words and actions, claiming attempts are being made to shield the guilty in various cases.
