Patna: The long wait for aspiring teachers in Bihar came to an end on Monday as the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) announced the results of the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025. Anand Kishor, Chairman of BSEB, released the results in a press conference.
A total of 4.42 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, out of which 2.56 lakh candidates have successfully qualified. The exam was conducted in two papers: Paper-1 for teachers of classes 9 and 10, and Paper-2 for teachers of classes 11 and 12.
Paper-1 saw the participation of 2,46,415 candidates, with 1,54,145 clearing the exam, resulting in a pass percentage of 62.56%. Paper-2 had 1,95,799 candidates, out of which 1,02,156 qualified, marking a pass percentage of 52.17%. Overall, the combined pass percentage stood at 57.96%, including 1,04,167 female and 1,52,134 male successful candidates.
The exam was conducted from October 14 to October 16 last year, featuring 16 subjects in Paper-1 and 29 subjects in Paper-2. Along with the results, subject-wise marks and qualifying status have also been released.
This eligibility certificate is mandatory for all upcoming teacher recruitment in Bihar. The cut-off marks were set at 50% for the general category, 45.5% for the backward class, 42.5% for the extremely backward class, and 40% for women, differently-abled, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes.
The examination consisted of 150 multiple-choice questions totaling 150 marks, with 100 marks assigned to subject knowledge and 50 marks to teaching skills and other competencies. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers.
