
Patna, March 15: A marathon aimed at promoting a drug-free Bihar was held at Gandhi Maidan in the capital, Patna, attracting 10,000 participants. Ajay Yadav, Secretary of the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department, stated that this event is part of the state’s anti-drug campaign, supported by SBI.
The marathon featured four race categories: a full 42-kilometer run, a 21-kilometer run, a 10-kilometer run, and a 5-kilometer run. To motivate participants, youth icon P.V. Sindhu was invited. With approximately 57% of Bihar’s population under the age of 25, the marathon aims to channel the energy of the youth positively towards a drug-free Bihar.
Yadav noted that this initiative has been ongoing for several years, primarily engaging young people. To connect with the community, youth icons are invited to inspire participants. The department and government are committed to guiding youth in a positive direction.
Kumar Ravi, Secretary to the Chief Minister, mentioned that the marathon is an annual event in Patna to promote a drug-free lifestyle. This year’s marathon includes a scenic 42-kilometer route along the banks of the Ganges River, considered one of the most beautiful paths in the country.
One participant expressed that the event aims to inspire youth to contribute to a drug-free Bihar and the development of their state. Another participant praised the government’s efforts, stating that such events raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
