Patna, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The situation in Bihar regarding the ongoing floods has sparked a heated exchange between the ruling party and the opposition. While the government claims that relief and rescue operations are progressing rapidly, opposition leaders allege that the administration is failing to manage the crisis effectively.
Minister Shravan Kumar addressed the media, stating that reports from various regions indicate successful rescues and the operation of community kitchens for affected individuals. He emphasized that all necessary arrangements are in place and that the relief work is proceeding swiftly. Kumar dismissed opposition claims as attempts to create confusion among the public.
In a similar vein, Minister Shreyasi Singh acknowledged the ongoing relief efforts but stressed the need for a more accelerated response to the crisis.
Conversely, RJD legislator Bhai Virendra leveled serious accusations against the government, claiming it has mishandled the flood situation. He pointed out the lack of available boats, insufficient dry rations, and inadequate provisions for livestock. According to him, while floods have historically impacted the region, the preparations this time have been inadequate compared to previous years.
Virendra urged the government to provide immediate assistance to affected families, including financial support for those who have lost loved ones and compensation for lost livestock.
Currently, several districts in Bihar are grappling with severe flooding, with rising river levels inundating low-lying areas. Thousands have been affected, and many villages are cut off from access.
