Patna, May 20: Bihar’s Education Minister, Mithilesh Tiwari, has urged candidates protesting for the release of the TRE-4 teacher recruitment exam advertisement to abandon their demonstrations and concentrate on their exam preparations.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Tiwari stated that the government is actively working on the TRE-4 recruitment process. He emphasized that protesting is unproductive, as the necessary steps are already underway. While he acknowledged the right to protest, he encouraged candidates to prioritize their studies instead.
Tiwari also mentioned that some external individuals are attempting to incite the students. The government is monitoring who is participating in the protests. Meanwhile, anger among students regarding the TRE-4 teacher recruitment notification was evident again on the streets of Bihar on Wednesday. A large number of candidates gathered to protest in Patna, but police detained several student leaders before the demonstration could commence.
Protesters wore chains to express their dissent and demanded the government expedite the release of vacancies. Many candidates arrived at Patna College, but heavy police presence was deployed in and around the area. There were instances of scuffles between students and police. Candidates expressed frustration, stating that the government has been providing only assurances for a long time, yet a clear exam schedule has not been released.
The primary demand of the candidates is for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to issue the official TRE-4.0 notification as soon as possible. They pointed out that they have only received promises regarding the recruitment process, with no advertisement published to date.
Candidates recalled that the BPSC had previously announced that the advertisement would be released on April 19-20, with the application process starting on April 26. Earlier, it was also stated that requisition from the department had been received, yet the notification remains pending. Reports suggest that over 46,000 vacancies are to be filled under TRE-4.0, but the ongoing delay in the advertisement has led to significant discontent among candidates.
