
Patna, July 15: In a significant meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the Bihar Cabinet approved 25 important proposals from various departments. The decisions encompass critical areas such as education, tourism, urban development, Panchayati Raj, civil aviation, information technology, transport, social welfare, and the home department.
The government asserts that these decisions will enhance infrastructure development, strengthen administrative systems, and accelerate the expansion of public services. The Cabinet has given the green light to develop and operate additional secondary and higher secondary schools as model institutions under the state’s ‘Saat Nischay-3’ program, which previously included Saraswati Vidya Niketan.
To promote tourism, the Cabinet approved the establishment of the ‘Bihar State Ropeway Company Limited’ for developing, operating, and managing ropeway transport systems at religious and major tourist sites. Additionally, significant proposals for the development of Maa Mundeshwari Temple in Kaimur and the birthplace of Maa Sita in Sitamarhi were also approved.
In the civil aviation sector, the Cabinet granted administrative approval for the acquisition of over 3,145 acres of land in Bhagalpur and Munger districts for the construction of a greenfield airport in Bhagalpur, with an investment exceeding ₹1,329 crores. Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was approved with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the construction of greenfield airports in Rajgir, Rohtas, and Kaimur.
The proposal for leasing aircraft for training Bihar Aviation Institute trainees was also sanctioned. Under the Urban Development and Housing Department, administrative approval was granted for sewerage networks in Hajipur and water supply projects in Khagaria, Sitamarhi, and Samastipur under the Amrit 2.0 scheme. Additionally, the ‘Policy, Bihar-2026’ for the safe reuse of treated wastewater received approval.
The Cabinet amended the proposal for a scooter scheme for female police personnel, approving the purchase of 1,500 scooters instead of the initially proposed 1,500 scooters, which will include 1,000 petrol and 500 electric scooters. It was also decided to increase the monthly remuneration for ex-servicemen working as contract warders in jails from ₹19,800 to ₹30,000. A new policy for compensation payments to the dependents of deceased inmates was also approved.
The meeting also sanctioned new regulations under the Panchayati Raj Act and the notification formats related to the delimitation of gram panchayats and district councils. Furthermore, the proposal for establishing the Bihar State Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence and its management structure received approval from the Information Technology Department.
The government believes these decisions will strengthen the administrative and technical framework alongside the implementation of development projects in the state.
