Tragic Bus Accident in Punjab, Pakistan Claims Four Lives

Islamabad, July 15: A tragic incident in eastern Punjab, Pakistan, has resulted in the deaths of four individuals. On Tuesday, a speeding passenger bus overturned after colliding with a motorcycle. In addition to the fatalities, 15 others sustained injuries.

According to a spokesperson from Rescue 1122, the accident occurred near Kala Khatai Road in the Muridke area of Sheikhupura district. The bus lost control after the collision and flipped over.

Rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene. The injured were given first aid before being transported to a government hospital. Meanwhile, six other injured passengers received treatment on-site and were later sent home.

Earlier, on July 3, a passenger bus in the Sherani district of southwestern Balochistan plunged into a deep ravine, resulting in at least 40 deaths and eight injuries. Shahid Rind, an aide to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, reported that additional fatalities occurred during transport and treatment, raising the death toll.

The Deputy Commissioner of the district, Hazrat Wali Kakar, informed Xinhua News Agency that the incident took place in the Dhana Sar area along the Zhob-Sherani Highway, near the border of Balochistan’s Sherani district and the Dera Ismail Khan district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police and rescue teams from both districts quickly reached the site, transporting all deceased and injured, including women and children, to nearby hospitals.

A rescue official noted that the accident occurred in a mountainous and difficult terrain, causing rescue teams to take over two hours to reach the location.

In a separate incident on Monday evening, heavy rainfall in Kohat district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led to the collapse of a house, claiming at least nine lives and injuring 14 others.

A Rescue 1122 official reported late Monday that the house in the Malgin area of Lachi collapsed due to torrential rain, trapping 23 individuals under the debris.

Rescue teams from Kohat and the neighboring Karak district launched an immediate operation, successfully extracting everyone from the rubble and transporting them to a nearby hospital.

The deceased included six women and three children. Officials expressed concern that the number of fatalities could rise due to the serious condition of some injured individuals.

The house collapsed amid continuous monsoon rains affecting several regions of Pakistan. The heavy rainfall has caused flash floods in various areas, damaging infrastructure and disrupting daily life.

Earlier on Monday, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had warned that rising water levels in dams could lead to the release of excess water in the coming days.
