Bhopal Teacher Dr. Archana Shukla Selected for National Teachers Award 2026

Bhopal, August 22: Dr. Archana Shukla, a teacher at Mahatma Gandhi Government Sandipani Higher Secondary School in Bhopal, has been selected for the National Teachers Award 2026. She is among 48 teachers chosen from across the country, including another educator from Madhya Pradesh, Shailendra Pratap Singh from Sidhi.

In an interview, Dr. Shukla expressed her gratitude, stating, “I truly want to thank God. This achievement is a result of divine grace and my students’ support. I received a call yesterday evening around 5:00-5:30 PM asking me to check my email. Upon checking, I learned about this award. It is not just for me; it represents all the women, teachers from Madhya Pradesh, and my students who have always believed in me.”

Dr. Shukla emphasized the struggles faced by female teachers. She noted, “When someone reaches this level despite challenges, it sends a message that if I can do it, so can they.” She praised the central government’s initiative to honor teachers, calling it a commendable effort.

She further mentioned that many of her students come from labor-class backgrounds, bringing various struggles with them. “Last year, one of our students had the opportunity to meet the President. She is a first-generation learner, as her parents had not pursued education. The confidence we instill in these children helps them progress,” Dr. Shukla added. She thanked the central government for this recognition, stating it would inspire many teachers.

Dr. Shukla described the National Teachers Award as a dream for any educator. “It is the highest honor for teachers in the country, a lifetime achievement award. It is a privilege for all of us. This recognition will help people learn about our school. I hope it serves as inspiration for all teachers.”
