New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in New Delhi on September 11 to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit. He was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey.
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed on social media platform X that India is eager to advance its shared vision of cooperation, development, and prosperity with Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, also reached New Delhi to attend the BRICS Summit. The Ministry noted that India and Thailand share a robust strategic partnership rooted in their historical ties, and they hope this visit will further strengthen bilateral relations.
Earlier, Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye arrived in New Delhi to represent the African Union at the summit, where he was greeted by Minister of State Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma. The Ministry stated that India and the African Union are working closely to promote shared priorities of the Global South.
India is hosting the BRICS presidency in 2026, and the summit is scheduled for September 12 and 13 in New Delhi. Leaders from BRICS member countries, partner nations, and special invitees will participate in the event.
The BRICS group comprises Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Partner countries include Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence on X, stating, “I believe this summit will foster positive and meaningful discussions on various issues, keeping the welfare of the world in mind.”
The BRICS Summit is viewed as a crucial platform for amplifying the voice of the Global South, enhancing multilateral cooperation, and increasing coordination on economic, trade, and strategic matters among member nations.
