Bhopal Division Prepares for Safe Monsoon Rail Operations

Bhopal, July 1: The Bhopal Division of West Central Railway has completed extensive preparations to ensure safe and uninterrupted rail operations during the monsoon season, which is characterized by heavy rainfall, storms, and potential flooding. According to official railway sources, safety measures have been prioritized, focusing on the monitoring of tracks, bridges, signals, and electrical assets in anticipation of the monsoon.

All departments within the division are working in coordination to provide passengers with safe and smooth rail travel. Special vigilance is being exercised on sensitive rail sections, including Bhopal–Itarsi, Bhopal–Bina, Bina–Guna, Guna–Ashoknagar-Ruthiyai, and Itarsi–Narmadapuram. Additional monitoring and regular inspections are being conducted in areas prone to flooding, on bridges, and at other sensitive locations.

Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi has instructed officials to continuously monitor weather conditions during the monsoon period, maintain coordination with local administration and disaster management agencies, and ensure that all resources are ready to respond quickly and effectively to any emergencies. Special monsoon patrolling has been arranged for sensitive rail sections.

Track patrolmen and watchmen have been deployed at potentially risky locations to continuously inspect the railway tracks, bridges, and other structures. Immediate notification and action protocols have also been established to address any issues that may arise. Furthermore, comprehensive cleaning of drains, culverts, and water drainage routes has been carried out to prevent flooding in railway tracks, yards, and station premises.

Debris and other obstructions around the tracks have been cleared to ensure the free flow of rainwater, thereby preventing disruption to rail operations. Railway officials have conducted joint inspections of electrified rail sections, including overhead equipment (OHE), signals, and tracks. Pruning of trees and branches that could pose potential hazards has also been completed.

Necessary equipment has been activated to monitor water levels on sensitive bridges, with regular monitoring conducted by the relevant authorities.
