Lucknow, April 5: In a significant operation against crime and drug trafficking in Bhadohi district, the local police achieved a major breakthrough. Acting on precise information and a proactive strategy, the Bhadohi police team uncovered an inter-district cannabis trafficking ring and arrested three notorious traffickers. Among those apprehended are two wanted criminals, each with a bounty of ₹50,000 and ₹25,000 on their heads.
This operation was conducted under the direction of Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Abhinav Tyagi on Saturday. Based on reliable intelligence, the police team set up a blockade near the Fattupur Power House and successfully captured all three suspects. During the search, officers seized a total of 22 kilograms and 360 grams of illegal cannabis from a bag in their possession. Additionally, ₹1,900 in cash and a Splendor Plus motorcycle, which was found to be stolen, were also confiscated.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Raju alias Shahzade, Sonu (with a ₹25,000 bounty), and Kallu alias Anwar (with a ₹50,000 bounty). During interrogation, the suspects admitted to purchasing cannabis at lower prices from the Kapsehti area of Varanasi and selling it at inflated rates in Bhadohi and surrounding regions, sharing the profits among themselves. According to police reports, Kallu alias Anwar has a serious criminal history, with approximately 69 cases registered against him in various districts for offenses including murder, robbery, dacoity, and drug trafficking. The other two suspects also have multiple criminal cases pending against them.
In this case, a complaint has been registered under the NDPS Act and MV Act at the Bhadohi police station, and all three suspects have been sent to jail. Superintendent Abhinav Tyagi stated that the campaign against crime and drug trade in the district will continue unabated. This operation not only dismantled an active gang but also instilled fear among criminals regarding police actions. This success is viewed as a significant achievement in maintaining law and order in the district.
