
Dhaka, May 11: Bangladesh has solidified its position in the first Test match against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. By the end of the fourth day, the hosts had scored 152 runs in their second innings, losing three wickets, and currently hold a lead of 179 runs.
After losing the toss, the Pakistani team batted first and scored 413 runs. Mominul Haque partnered with captain Najmul Hossain to add 170 runs for the third wicket, while Mominul also contributed 75 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim for the fourth wicket.
Mominul Haque was dismissed for 91 runs, hitting 10 boundaries. Captain Najmul scored a century, making 101 runs with 14 fours. Mushfiqur Rahim also added 71 runs to the team’s total. For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas took the most wickets, claiming five, while Shaheen Afridi secured three.
In response, the Pakistani team was bowled out for 386 runs in their first innings. Debutant Azaan Awais scored 103 runs off 165 balls, while Abdullah Fazal contributed 60 runs. Additionally, Mohammad Rizwan scored 59 runs, and Salman Agha added 58 runs. Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed for 45 runs. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the standout bowler, taking five wickets, with Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam each claiming two.
After gaining a crucial 27-run lead from the first innings, Bangladesh’s second innings began poorly, losing both openers for just 23 runs. However, Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain rescued the innings with a 105-run partnership for the third wicket. Mominul scored 56 runs with four boundaries before being dismissed. At the end of the day, Najmul remained unbeaten on 58 runs, while Rahim was not out on 16. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Abbas, and Hasan Ali each took one wicket.
