Bangladesh Enters Super-6 with Win Over USA in U19 World Cup

Harare: Bangladesh secured a convincing 7-wicket victory over the United States in the Under-19 World Cup 2026, booking their place in the Super-6 stage. New Zealand has also advanced to the next round, while India was the first team from Group B to qualify.

The Group B match played at Takashinga Sports Club saw the USA bat first after losing the toss. The American side was restricted to 199 runs, losing two wickets within the initial six runs.

At this point, Utkarsh Srivastava and Sahil Garg added 51 runs in 90 balls for the third wicket. Garg scored 35 runs off 60 balls, including two sixes and two fours, before getting out. The USA team had lost five wickets by the time the score reached 89. Captain Srivastava contributed 39 runs off 65 balls.

Adnit Jhamb then steadied the innings with small partnerships, guiding the team to 199. Alongside Adit Kappa, he shared a 43-run stand for the eighth wicket. Jhamb remained unbeaten on 68 runs from 69 balls, hitting one six and three fours. From the Bangladeshi bowling attack, Iqbal Hussain Emon took three wickets, while Al Fahad, Shahriar Ahmed, and Mohammad Rizan Hussain claimed two wickets each.

In response, Bangladesh chased down the target in 41.3 overs. Jawaad Abrar and Rifat Beg opened the innings, putting together a 78-run partnership in 14.2 overs.

Abrar scored 47 runs off 42 balls, including three sixes and five fours, before being dismissed. Shortly after, Beg was out for 30 runs off 55 balls, hitting three fours.

Azizul Hakim Tamim then joined Kalam Siddiqui Alin, and their 88-run partnership for the third wicket brought Bangladesh close to victory. Tamim scored 64 runs off 82 balls, featuring two sixes and two fours, before getting out. Kalam Siddiqui remained unbeaten on 30 runs. From the USA side, Ritvik Appidi, Srivastava, and Garg took one wicket each.

With this win, Bangladesh confirmed their progression to the Super-6 round of the Under-19 World Cup.
