Australia Clinches T20 Series with Narrow Victory Over Bangladesh

Chattogram, June 19: Australia secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20 series against Bangladesh by winning the second match by just 7 runs on Friday. This victory is crucial for Australia, especially after their loss in the ODI series, as it helps restore their confidence. In the second T20, Australia set a target of 197 runs for Bangladesh to chase.

Bangladesh started their innings well, with openers Tanzid Ahmed (30) and Saif Hasan (42) forming a solid partnership of 48 runs for the first wicket. Parvez Hossain Emon contributed 36 runs off 22 balls, while captain Towhid Hridoy scored 35 runs off 22 balls in a valiant effort to secure victory. However, their efforts fell short as Bangladesh managed only 189 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs, losing the match by 7 runs.

For Australia, Aaron Hardy took 2 wickets, while Nathan Ellis, Matt Renshaw, Adam Zampa, and Joel Davies each claimed 1 wicket.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 196 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Matt Renshaw, batting at number four, played a crucial innings of 89 not out off 52 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours. This performance was instrumental in reaching the total of 196 runs. Additionally, Tim David scored 45 runs off 26 balls, and captain Marsh added 20 runs off 19 balls.
