On the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Sarma wrote, “The end of an era. Thank you, Leo, for every magical moment. It has been a privilege to watch you play. Today, my heart is broken like every fan’s, and I know my entire family feels the same. Forever a GOAT (Greatest of All Time).”
FIFA President Gianni Infantino also praised the 39-year-old Argentine player for his achievements, talent, and significant impact on sports worldwide. He wrote on ‘Instagram’, “Congratulations to Lionel Messi for a remarkable international career that has inspired millions and redefined this beautiful game. As the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner and the player with the most matches and goals for Argentina, as well as the record for the most FIFA World Cup matches played in history – your magical talent and humility will always be remembered.
