Assams NDA Government Marks 100 Days: CM Sarma Highlights Agricultural and Rural Development Achievements

Guwahati, August 21: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma showcased the state’s achievements in agriculture and rural development during the first 100 days of the NDA government’s third term. He emphasized the steps taken to empower farmers and enhance the lives of rural families.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Sarma stated that the government is focused on building ‘strong farms’ and ‘strong rural communities.’ He also shared key statistics related to farmer assistance, rural housing, and employment.

According to the Chief Minister’s post, ₹373 crores have been distributed under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, benefiting 1.86 million farmers in the state. This scheme provides direct financial assistance to eligible farmer families. As part of its 100-day progress, the Assam government highlighted the scope of this initiative in the agricultural sector.

Sarma also mentioned the successes achieved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), revealing that 146,550 rural families have received homes through this program. The initiative aims to provide permanent housing for eligible rural families and improve living conditions across villages in the state.

Another significant development was the launch of the VB-Giram-G initiative. Sarma noted that Assam became the first state in India to initiate this program, which is a crucial step towards strengthening rural employment and development.

The Chief Minister’s post reflected the state’s comprehensive focus on agriculture and rural development, vital sectors for Assam’s economy and livelihoods. This 100-day progress report comes at a time when the state government is striving to link direct welfare assistance with housing, employment opportunities, and measures to enhance rural livelihoods.

Sarma stated that these initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to delivering development to farmers and rural communities. The focus is not only on financial aid but also on creating a robust and sustainable rural ecosystem.

The Chief Minister characterized these 100 days as a period of concrete action in agriculture and rural development, emphasizing the government’s efforts to strengthen the foundation of Assam’s rural economy.
