
Guwahati, March 8: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the overwhelming public response to the ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He noted that the significant participation of people in various constituencies of Upper Assam reflects a strong wave of support for the party.
On the social media platform X, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to witness the scale of the “BJP wave” in Assam firsthand. He expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation of the public, stating, “To truly understand the extent of the saffron wave in Assam, you must observe our Jan Ashirwad Yatra. These blessings are invaluable and represent the greatest strength of life.”
During the yatra, Sarma visited Makum, Digboi, and Margherita in Tinsukia district, where large crowds gathered to welcome him and participate in the political outreach program. He described the event in Makum as memorable, noting that the affection and enthusiasm shown by the public made the day special. He added that the ongoing development projects in the constituency have strengthened the relationship between the government and the people. “Makum has been memorable in every sense. With progress in development across the constituency, the energy and affection of the people made this day unforgettable,” he remarked.
In Digboi, the Chief Minister dedicated a grand statue to the last queen of the Chutia dynasty, Birangana Sati Sadhani, to the public. He highlighted that her bravery and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations and hold a significant place in Assam’s history and cultural identity.
Earlier, while addressing the crowd in Margherita, Sarma expressed his deep impression by the overwhelming response from the public. He stated, “The sea of love from the people of Margherita filled my heart with joy and infused the streets with incredible energy.”
The Jan Ashirwad Yatra is part of the BJP’s statewide outreach campaign aimed at connecting with voters ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Assam and showcasing the government’s development initiatives.
