Guwahati, May 30: Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya will lead an Indian delegation to Mongolia, carrying the sacred relics of two prominent disciples of Buddha, Arhat Sariputra and Arhat Maudgalyayana. This special spiritual exhibition aims to strengthen the centuries-old cultural and religious ties between India and Mongolia.

The sacred relics, preserved in the Sanchi Vihar Chaitya at the Sanchi Stupa complex in Madhya Pradesh, will be transported to Mongolia with full honor and religious rituals. These relics are associated with the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sanchi Stupa, one of the most revered centers of Buddhism.
According to a statement from the Raj Bhavan, this initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Its goal is to deepen India’s historical and civilizational ties with Mongolia, regarded as India’s “spiritual neighbor” in the Buddhist world.
