Assam Chief Minister Highlights BJPs Achievements During Jan Ashirwad Yatra

Guwahati, February 28: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will present a performance report card of its ten years in power during the upcoming ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra.’ This journey is set to commence across the state on Saturday, aiming to connect with the public ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma emphasized that the initiative is an effort to communicate the state government’s achievements directly to the people.

He stated, “The Jan Ashirwad Yatra aims to showcase our success in serving the public over the past decade,” adding that the outreach program will also serve as an exercise in accountability.

The Chief Minister mentioned that BJP leaders would apologize to the public for any unfulfilled promises. “During this journey, we will seek forgiveness for the tasks we could not accomplish,” he said.

As part of the campaign, the BJP released three songs on Friday. CM Sarma noted that these songs were created under the guidance of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, with the goal of emotionally connecting with the public during the journey.

Addressing accusations regarding the reliance on the performance ‘report card’ when selecting candidates, CM Sarma clarified, “The BJP does not work based on a report card. The focus is solely on which candidate has the best chance of winning.”

He also referenced recent incidents of violence, claiming that BJP workers were attacked by unidentified individuals while attempting to issue notices to those encroaching on land in tribal areas and blocks.

He remarked, “Despite our campaign to clear approximately 150,000 bighas of land, some individuals are still ready to resist.”

Defending the BJP government’s policies, CM Sarma asserted that the state’s social and cultural harmony would be at risk without BJP leadership.

He claimed, “If the BJP government is not in power, no one will honor the teachings of Guru Shankardev.”

The ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ is expected to traverse several districts in Assam, allowing senior BJP leaders and workers to engage directly with citizens before the upcoming assembly elections.
