Mumbai, March 10: Filmmaker and social activist Ashok Pandit has lauded Anupam Kher’s film ‘Tanvi the Great,’ currently streaming on Amazon Prime. In a video posted on social media, he emphasized that some stories do more than entertain; they linger in our hearts long after the screen goes dark. ‘Tanvi the Great’ is one of those special narratives.
Pandit remarked that the film portrays autism not through pity or sympathy, but with empathy, respect, and profound understanding. It reminds us that greatness does not always shout; sometimes, it resides in a mind that perceives the world in a unique, beautiful, and honest way.
He highlighted the film’s most significant feature: it does not attempt to dramatize autism. Instead, it offers us a chance to see the difference and gently urges us to pause, reflect, and reconsider our notions of ‘normal.’ The power of cinema lies in its ability to bridge worlds that we may never fully experience. This film does just that—with heart, dignity, and respect.
In the video, Ashok Pandit stated, “Our country produces various types of films—action, meaningful cinema, issue-based films. Among them is ‘Tanvi the Great,’ created by my dear brother and friend Anupam Kher. It tells the story of an autistic girl’s aspirations, achievements, and passions. It inspires us to move forward, no matter how weak we may feel.”
He further expressed that he does not view autistic individuals as ‘different’ from the ‘normal.’ Rather, their sensitivity, emotional depth, and passion often surpass those of others. When we feel vulnerable, such inspiring stories provide us with courage and confidence. Praising the film, he mentioned that its script, direction, editing, locations, cinematography, and acting are all outstanding. “I genuinely believe this film is of the highest class,” he added.
Pandit urged audiences to watch such films. He warned that if we do not support these narratives, filmmakers may become discouraged and shy away from creating inspiring stories in the future. He concluded, “I request everyone to watch ‘Tanvi the Great’ on Amazon Prime. May it achieve such success that Anupam Kher is encouraged to create more inspiring stories.”
