Jodhpur, June 25: Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has raised serious questions regarding the governance style of the BJP, stating that chaos reigns wherever their government is in power.
In a conversation with reporters on Thursday, Gehlot highlighted the grave situation in states governed by the BJP, citing a series of scandals that have emerged. He expressed disappointment over the party’s silence, saying, “They are not willing to speak up. People from villages to Jaipur are suffering. Criminal incidents are on the rise. The Chief Minister must understand the current conditions. We have no enmity with her; we will provide moral support, but she needs to realize that the situation is very serious and beyond her control.”
Gehlot also commented on the proposed refinery in the state, suggesting that the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary should be present to oversee the situation. He recalled a previous incident where a fire broke out just days before the Prime Minister’s visit, leading to embarrassment for Rajasthan. “If there is a plan to bring a refinery again, the state government must conduct a thorough review immediately. We do not want any form of disgrace,” he added.
Furthermore, Gehlot criticized the practice of making false allegations in politics, emphasizing the importance of facts. He pointed out that Kirori Lal Meena, even when not a minister, has been making accusations for years. “There is a certain prestige associated with the party president’s position, and continuous allegations will naturally provoke a reaction from our party,” he said.
He also mentioned that the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) is under pressure, with subordinate officials not adhering to directives. “I believe the Director General is also troubled. Officials have informed me that they are compelled to work under pressure. I have not seen such a situation in the state before,” he remarked.
Gehlot questioned whether the Chief Minister is aware of the current state of affairs, suggesting that her silence is due to pressure. “This time, the people of the state will respond. Our supporters are aware,” he asserted.
On the topic of the refinery, he recalled that Sonia Gandhi was the chairperson and Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister when they had previously requested a census for the refinery. “However, the work was halted for five years. They must explain why the project was stalled for so long,” he concluded.
