Itanagar, June 28: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), urged students to stay connected with their traditions and cultural identity while embracing new ideas, innovations, and experiences. He emphasized the importance of balancing heritage preservation with progress in a rapidly changing world.
On Sunday, the Governor visited Abotani Vidya Niketan in Pachin Colony, Naharlagun, to celebrate his birthday with students, teachers, and staff.
During his interaction with the students, Lieutenant General Parnaik shared valuable life experiences and encouraged them to make the most of educational opportunities. He stressed the significance of education and discipline, advising students to remain curious, engage in continuous learning, and develop self-discipline. He noted that true success is not solely based on academic excellence but also on good character, honesty, and a sense of responsibility.
The Governor remarked that small acts of kindness, compassion, and service can positively impact society and contribute to nation-building. He highlighted the importance of holistic development, urging students to adopt a mantra of being mentally alert, physically strong, and morally upright.
He encouraged students to respect their parents, teachers, and cultural heritage, stating that these values lay a strong foundation for personal growth and responsible citizenship. The Governor also presented sports equipment to the students, emphasizing the importance of good health and a disciplined lifestyle. He advised them to stay physically active, avoid bad habits, and channel their talents and energy into community service and creative endeavors.
He asserted that healthy, confident, and socially aware youth are the greatest strength of the nation. Impressed by the students’ discipline, enthusiasm, and large turnout, the Governor announced plans to provide coaching and guidance for students preparing for admission to military schools through Indian Army units in the state.
He also announced the establishment of an Advanced Learning Center and the provision of books to enrich the school library.
On this occasion, students showcased cultural programs reflecting Arunachal Pradesh’s rich culture and traditions, followed by a yoga demonstration highlighting the importance of discipline, balance, and health.
Reiterating his commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, the Governor participated in a tree-planting program with teachers and students. He called on students to spread the message of environmental conservation and commit to protecting nature for life.
