Noida, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Transport Department in Noida has intensified its efforts against illegally operating vehicles under “Operation Kavach 2.0,” continuing its crackdown for a second day. Following directives from the Uttar Pradesh government, five enforcement teams conducted extensive checks across major roads and intersections in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
During the operation, authorities issued fines to 34 buses for rule violations and seized 21 buses on-site, which were then taken to depots and local police stations. Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement), led the operation.
Five enforcement teams were deployed, including three Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and two Provincial Transport Officers (PTOs). They inspected buses at key locations such as Pari Chowk, the Mahamaya Flyover, Sector-37, and Surajpur.
Officials reported serious irregularities among several buses. Some were found operating without adhering to the conditions of their permits, while others were not following valid route and permit regulations. Additionally, some bus operators had long-standing tax dues, prompting further action against those vehicles.
The enforcement teams also targeted buses being misused for transporting heavy commercial goods instead of passengers, which poses significant safety risks. Such vehicles were identified and subjected to fines and seizures as per regulations.
Dr. Pandey emphasized that the purpose of Operation Kavach 2.0 is to effectively curb illegal and non-compliant transportation practices. He assured that there would be no compromise on passenger safety in the district. Operators violating permit conditions, accumulating tax dues, or misusing passenger vehicles will face ongoing scrutiny and penalties.
He issued a clear warning to vehicle owners, stating that those who disregard regulations and harm government revenue will not be spared. The Transport Department plans to continue its checking campaigns in various parts of the district in the coming days. This operation has created a stir among illegally operating bus operators, with officials asserting that the initiative aims not just to issue fines, but to ensure a safe and compliant public transport system.
