Army Chief Inspires Cadets at NDA Passing Out Parade with Service Before Self Message

Pune, May 30: The National Defence Academy (NDA) held a grand passing out parade for its 150th course on Saturday. The event was inspected by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who shared insights from his 42 years of military service while addressing the graduating cadets.

General Dwivedi expressed, “Today is a moment of immense pride and personal significance as I inspect the passing out parade of the 150th course. I walked this very parade ground 42 years ago. As I prepare to take off my uniform and you don yours, I can confidently say that what begins at NDA stays with you for a lifetime.”

He commended the parade commander, all cadets, and award winners, giving special recognition to the ‘Cheetah Squadron’ and acknowledging four foreign cadets from twelve friendly nations. He noted that these young individuals are united by shared values and a common purpose.

Highlighting the current security landscape, General Dwivedi stated, “Today, threats do not come dressed in uniforms or on declared fronts. ‘Operation Sindhu’ has demonstrated how national power can be showcased with precision and resolve. This high standard now rests on your shoulders.”

He emphasized the importance of unity among the three armed forces, stating that it forms the foundation of the NDA. He advised young officers to focus on three qualities: attitude, adaptability, and competence.

Acknowledging the achievements of female cadets, the Army Chief remarked, “Female cadets have met every standard. War and service are gender-neutral.” He also expressed gratitude to their families for their support.

General Dwivedi praised the hard work of instructors and staff, reminding the passing out cadets that ‘Service Before Self’ is the core mantra of this profession. The NDA passing out parade is one of the most prestigious military events in the country, with hundreds of cadets joining the Army, Navy, and Air Force as officers each year.
