Allegations of Dairy Scam Targeting Dalits and Tribals in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, June 20: Opposition leader Umang Singhar has accused the Madhya Pradesh government of a dairy scam that exploits Dalits and tribals. He claims that subsidies intended for these marginalized communities have been misappropriated by influential individuals. Singhar took to social media to highlight the alleged scam, asserting that the dairy scheme has been manipulated for personal gain.

According to Singhar, beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes receive approximately ₹2.23 lakh in subsidies for a unit of two buffaloes, while those from the general category receive only ₹1.49 lakh. This results in an additional subsidy of around ₹74,000 per unit. Recent revelations indicate that in many cases, subsidies were claimed under the names of Dalits and tribals, but the buffaloes were found at the residences of powerful individuals instead.

Singhar further alleged that many beneficiaries are unaware of their supposed dairy earnings. Some are engaged in labor elsewhere, while others lack the facilities to keep livestock. In some instances, wives are oblivious to buffalo purchases made in their husbands’ names, and there are names on the beneficiary list of individuals who do not even reside in the village. This situation reportedly unfolds in the constituency of the state’s Animal Husbandry Minister, Lakhan Patel.

The opposition leader emphasized that this is not merely a case of administrative error but a calculated theft of rights from Dalits and tribals. He pointed out that the poor exist only on paper as owners, while the real benefits are reaped by the affluent. The pressing question is not just about the whereabouts of the buffaloes, but who is providing protection to those profiting from the millions in subsidies claimed under the names of Dalits and tribals.
