Another Extrajudicial Killing in Balochistan: Body of 17-Year-Old Found

Quetta, March 4: In a troubling incident, the Pakistani military has been accused of killing another Baloch citizen in Balochistan. This event highlights the increasing occurrences of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances across the province. This information was revealed by a prominent human rights organization on Wednesday.

The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department, known as Pank, reported that the body of 17-year-old Yahya Baloch was discovered on Tuesday in the Washabood area of Panjgur district. He had been missing for the past five months, with allegations of enforced disappearance against him.

Pank stated, “This is not an isolated case; it underscores the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan. Even during Ramadan, people are being forcibly disappeared and extrajudicial killings are occurring.”

The organization has urged the United Nations and international human rights bodies to take notice of these violations in Balochistan, conduct investigations, and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Earlier, Pank reported that the Pakistani military forcibly disappeared at least nine civilians in Balochistan. They highlighted the case of 17-year-old Shoaib Ahmed Kambarani, who was allegedly taken from his home by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday in the Killi Kambarani area of the provincial capital, Quetta.

On the same day, a businessman named Rahim Bakhsh, aged 45, was reportedly abducted by personnel from the Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC) from his home in the Minaz area of Kech district.

The human rights organization detailed the ongoing atrocities against civilians, stating that the FC forcibly disappeared four more Baloch youths from their homes in Minaz on Monday. The victims were identified as 17-year-old Ali Ahmed, 19-year-old Yasir, 17-year-old Asif, and 18-year-old Abdul Rehman.

Pank further reported that two brothers, Zakariya and Rehan, were forcibly disappeared by the FC and CTD during a raid at their home in Turbat city on February 26. Additionally, an 18-year-old student named Saddam was allegedly taken by the CTD from Brewery Road in Quetta on February 16.

Balochistan continues to grapple with ongoing military oppression, where enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch citizens are being recorded at unprecedented levels.
